This cake was made for a Baptism for a girl named Linden.

It’s vanilla sponge cake with lemon buttercream.

The vanilla sponge was made similar to a classic genoise cake but with added milk to make it moist and tender. The lemon buttercream is Italian buttercream (the only buttercream I make) with a lemon curd added, plus an extra squeeze of lemon juice for some tartness.

I love the little flecks of lemon zest you can see in the buttercream.

I decorated with some royal icing, and little fondant cutouts.
