The Lambeth Piping Series

What You'll Learn

Ten patterns, taught one at a time.

No “watch and try to keep up.” Each pattern gets its own lesson, with the exact tip recommendation, technique, and the troubleshooting for when it doesn’t go right the first time.
01

The foundational lines

Straight lines and scalloped lines. The two patterns you’ll use as bases for almost every Lambeth design. PME tip recommendations included.
02

Rope, shell & pearl borders

The classic border family. Rope for swags, shell or pearl for the perimeter of a tier. Even pressure, even spacing, even sizing.
03

Braid & dots

The braid sits between basket weave and rope. The dots seem simple but the technique of not leaving a peak when you lift off, that’s where most piping looks amateur. Both fixed.
04

Lattice, ruffle & drop strings

The patterns that turn a plain tier into Lambeth. Working counter-clockwise so a broken line never ruins your work. Two ruffle techniques. Gravity-assisted drop strings on a vertical surface.
05

S-scrolls & the project cake

The flourish that finishes a Lambeth cake. Then we bring all ten patterns together in one project tier, designed and piped from start to finish.

Why Lambeth Piping

The cake style every wedding magazine is printing.

Open Pinterest right now and search “vintage wedding cake.” The cakes that come back, the ones with intricate borders, ribbons of piping, drop strings, scrollwork. That’s all Lambeth. It’s the technique that’s been quietly returning to wedding cake design for the last three years, and the cake artists who can pipe it are getting the bookings.
Lambeth scares most people off because it looks intricate. It isn’t. It’s ten foundational patterns, taught one at a time, and then combined. Once you can pipe a clean drop string, a clean shell border, and a clean S-scroll, you can pipe any Lambeth cake you can imagine.
“Watching your How to Make an Elegant Organic Floral Piped Cake video helped so much with this cake, which was for a wedding.” · Pauline Brinkman · Academy student
The course also doesn’t skip the unglamorous parts. Which tips to buy (and which to skip). How to fix a broken line without redoing the whole tier. Working counter-clockwise so gravity is on your side. The kind of details that you only learn after twenty wedding cakes go through your studio.

Michelle Henry · Iris Street Bakery

Your Teacher

Hi, I'm Alexandria.

I founded Finespun Cakes in Toronto in 2015 and have spent the last decade designing wedding cakes and teaching sugar flowers to over 1,000 students worldwide.
I trained at Le Cordon Bleu, studied under Ron Ben-Israel in New York, won an American Cake Award, and was named one of Wedluxe’s Top 10 Wedding Cake Designers in Canada.
My courses are taught the way I wish someone had taught me, with every step shown, no gatekeeping, and no rushing through the parts that actually matter.

Why buy one course when you could have all of them?

The Lambeth Piping Series is included in the Finespun Academy at $29/month, along with every other course, over 100 studio recipes, all seven studio tools, and live time with Alexandria every month.
After five months in the Academy, you’ve already gotten more than the price of this single course. Most members stay much longer.
